Fachoberschule Haar – playground directly at the truck access – district of Munich

There has been a technical college in Haar for almost four years, but it still does not have its own proper school building. This interim state has curious consequences – and also dangerous. A 400 square meter outdoor area was rented this year so that the 900 students can spend their breaks outdoors. Because the school doesn’t have a real playground, and in the surrounding office complex on Hans-Pinsel-Strasse you feel disturbed by the young people when they go outside into the courtyard between classes. The problem: The open space for the breaks is on a street that is used by delivery trucks.

This is what worries teachers and parents. Headmistress Nicola Tauscher-Meriç puts it diplomatically: “It would be nice if we could use the inner courtyard of the office complex,” she says. An art course has already promoted it with campaigns. However, Tauscher-Meriç realizes that the noise level that may arise there is not optimal in the long term. Various tenants are accommodated in the building, including kindergartens, which have rest periods, and companies whose employees want to concentrate on their work. It takes a certain amount of time every school year for all new students to internalize that special rules must apply in an office building. You will “have to find a solution that is suitable for everyone involved,” says the director.

According to the headmistress, the administrative district of Munich, as the bearer of material expenses, is aware of the difficult situation. According to Tauscher-Meriç, the district is doing what it can, for example with equipment and rooms. “The ideal solution would be to build your own school. According to the District Office, the school location in Haar is “still planned for the long term”. The search for a permanent solution is ongoing. There are various options, including an eleven-hectare site at the Gronsdorf S-Bahn station, which The city of Munich belongs to the state capital Munich. However, the Munich city council has decided to only give up part of its area if residential buildings are allowed to be built on the remaining area. However, the municipality of Haar, to whose municipal area this is concerned, does not want that The negotiations are apparently deadlocked.

The search for a location should be completed by the beginning of next year at the latest

“The search for a location should be completed by the end of this year or early next year,” says the district office. And Haar’s Mayor Andreas Bukowski (CSU) says: “Nothing is out of the question.” He has concrete plans: the municipality favors the Eglfing variant at the Haarer S-Bahn station following the sports park. In addition to a technical college and a vocational college, a junior high school and a nursing school could be built there. An access road is still needed, but according to Bukowski it is already included in the municipality’s traffic concept. He is in very constructive negotiations with the private owners about the land: “We want to have reached an agreement by the end of the year, we’re on the right track.”

The Fachoberschule Haar can look back on successful development since it was founded in autumn 2018. She grows and grows. While there were twelve teachers and 195 high school students when it opened in the 2018/19 school year, the school already has 70 teachers and around 900 students this school year. The FOS offers you four specializations: health, social affairs, technology as well as business and administration. Initially, the school was housed on the second and third floors of Hans-Pinsel-Strasse 10a, but the ground floor and rooms in part 9a of the building have since been added. Further workshops for the technical profession were opened up and a larger auditorium was built. According to information from the district office, for the 2022/23 school year the usable school area will be a good 8,260 square meters – that is three and a half times what was available at the start of school four years ago. Then 1100 students are expected.
