Faced with the lack of teachers, the town hall launches “its” recruitment campaign

Initially scheduled for Thursday, November 9, the deadline to register for the teacher recruitment competition has been pushed back by almost a month, to December 7, by the Ministry of National Education. The last straw for the town of Neuilly-sur-Seine and its councilor, Jean-Christophe Fromantin, who explains to 20 minutes : “Of the sixteen public schools in the city, we are missing 4.5 full-time equivalents. »

A tense situation in the city, especially since the city’s eleven “reserve” replacement teachers are already all mobilized.

The ministry’s broken promises

To try to remedy this lack, the city of Hauts-de-Seine has decided to take matters into its own hands to speed up the recruitment process, by relaying on the City’s communication media the announcement of the recruitment campaign for National Education.

“This decision is concomitant with the government’s announcement, we have been worried about the situation for several weeks,” explains Jean-Claude Fromantin. We were promised a teacher in front of each student at the start of the school year. Broken promise. The academic director asked me to wait until All Saints’ Day. November 1st has passed and nothing has changed. So we act. »

The town hall is therefore putting online, as of this Friday, on its website, on its Facebook, X (ex-Twitter), Instagram and LinkedIn accounts, the announcement of the recruitment campaign for contract school teachers.

A first selection to ensure success

“We have asked for recruitment criteria and we are launching an appeal to the population. I am sure that there are thousands of interested people in Neuilly,” assures the mayor. Receive applications, study them, receive candidates and inform them about the job. This is the objective of this approach. “We carry out a selection and then group together serious applications and send them to the ministry and ensure an optimal success rate. »

The only condition requested from the ministry by Jean-Claude Fromantin: that the selected applications be reserved as a priority for schools in Neuilly. It remains to be seen whether this initiative will be more productive than that of the government.
