Faced with the 5th wave, it is easier to have your 3rd dose

Get started with the booster dose. Open to all adults since November 27, this new injection will condition the validity of the health pass from January 15. If the traffic jam was immediate on the Doctolib platform as soon as this measure was announced, the possibilities of getting injected should not be lacking in Île-de-France.

“There are more than 110 vaccination centers available in the region, and we will continue to open them”, explains a representative of the regional health agency (ARS) Île-de-France. Many centers had been closed at the beginning of the second half of the year in the departments which had significant vaccination coverage such as Yvelines.

Center openings throughout the region

With this new dose, many centers will reopen. In Paris, while only 14 centers remained active, at least 9 new ones are gradually reopening their doors, including the gigantic Porte de Versailles center (15th) or the health center at Square Mutualité (5th). Almost all the boroughs are concerned. If this is not the case for the little ones, it is because they are near another pole, such as the Paris Center at 22, rue Mahler (4th).

Same strategy for the Ile-de-France departments. Seine-et-Marne will go from 10 to 18 centers, Yvelines from 6 to 11, Essonne from 13 to 18, Seine-Saint-Denis from 17 to 23, Val-de-Marne from 16 to 18 and Val-d’Oise from 10 to 16. Only Hauts-de-Seine should keep a situation similar to that of September, the department having kept a large number (20) of centers open.

Orientation towards “city” health services

For the ARS, these figures are undoubtedly not definitive, they could evolve according to the strength of the 5th wave. “Nothing is certain with the Covid-19, but it is likely that certain large centers such as the Stade de France will not reopen”, one explains to the agency. This new vaccination campaign should see fewer major poles reopen. Not that the 5th wave is taken lightly according to the ARS, but “its treatment and the situation have changed”. “First, this is a smaller campaign, we are talking about a single dose in the majority of cases [excepté les personnes encore non-vaccinées]. Above all, we want to orient the population towards “city” health services. “

The first wave had surprised the whole world and launched an international battle for the acquisition of doses, this is no longer the case. “We have a very large number of doses available. Also, to avoid traffic jams and queues in vaccination centers, we prefer to direct citizens to general practitioners and pharmacies, ”explains ARS.

New conditions for transporting and storing vaccines

A configuration made possible by the number of doses available, but also by the new marketing authorization for the Pfizer / BioNtech vaccine which allows easier transport and storage for healthcare professionals, such as for Moderna. “A doctor was reluctant to open a 6-dose vial before if he only had two appointments during the day. From now on, he will no longer ask himself the question, since he will also be able to receive patients without an appointment and offer the injection to those who have come to consult him for something else. “

Same scenario for pharmacists who can, as they wish, vaccinate with or without an appointment. This Monday, 2,700 pharmacists in Île-de-France were already offering the booster dose. A figure which should increase. “This allows more flexibility for patients who don’t have to race to get a niche. You just have to go to your pharmacist and ask for an appointment during the week. “

No need to worry about the health pass either, since the recording of this dose is done automatically via the professional’s software. To find the centers and professionals closest to you, just log in on the Santé.fr website and search for your department or arrondissement to obtain a list of places offering vaccination. These lists are updated automatically as soon as the dose is ordered by the professionals.
