Facebook, Telegram, Instagram: How hatred overwhelms the victims – politics

In the pandemic, Telegram and Facebook are brimming with hatred and hatred. Expert Anna-Lena von Hodenberg explains how perpetrators finish off those who think differently, why victims so rarely go to the police – and what the state should do about it.

Anna-Lena von Hodenberg knows exactly how hatred arises, how it multiplies and how it hits. The former journalist had already dealt with the topic at the Campact civil movement, and when hate on the internet grew bigger and bigger, she founded the Hate Aid association in 2018. There they have already advised and looked after the Fridays for Future activist Luisa Neubauer – and just recently Green politician Renate Künast. During the pandemic, says von Hodenberg, the mood on the internet has become even more aggressive, especially on Telegram. So do we need to tighten the laws? It’s not that easy.
