Facade of burned-out historic stock exchange collapsed in Copenhagen – panorama

The masonry of the burned-out half of the historic stock exchange in Copenhagen has collapsed. Half of the walls of the stock exchange collapsed despite stabilization, as a fire department spokesman said. Hours earlier, emergency services had tried to save the walls after the fire by placing containers of concrete blocks connected to scaffolding around the building. It is still unclear whether people were injured in the crash.

The building, which was built 400 years ago, is located on the eastern tip of the island of Slotsholmen on the Holmens Canal opposite the Danish National Bank and is a tourist attraction. A fire broke out there on Tuesday. The fire was particularly devastating in the part closer to Parliament. Due to restoration work, the entire building was scaffolded.

After the fire, only the exterior walls of the affected side of the building remained. Before emergency services could stabilize the walls from the inside, all rubble and other debris from the floor of the building had to be removed on Friday.
