Extreme weather: What we can do against climate depression

Drought, forest fires, floods, storms: our weather is becoming more and more extreme. The meteorologist Frank Böttcher explains why we still don’t have to fall into climate depression.

Frank Böttcher, 54, lives with his family in Hamburg. The trained advertising salesman was interested in the weather as a child and taught himself meteorology and climatology through self-study. Among other things, he works as a weather presenter for public and private radio and TV stations, is the author of several books and was the publisher and editor-in-chief of the weather magazine. He was recently elected chairman of the German Meteorological Society. Böttcher has been organizing the Extreme Weather Congress since 2006, which will take place this year from September 28th to 30th in Hamburg.
