Exploit of Léo Bergère, crowned world champion in Abu Dhabi

After Vincent Luis in 2019 and 2020, another French athlete has just risen to the top of the world in triathlon. Already European champion last August in Munich, Léo Bergère has indeed accomplished the feat of becoming world champion in the discipline, this Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

During the final of the circuit World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS), the 26-year-old Frenchman beat American Morgan Pearson and Belgian Jelle Geens, as well as his compatriot Vincent Luis (7th).

What is absolutely crazy is that before this last round in Abu Dhabi, Léo Bergère was 359 points behind New Zealander Hayden Wilde in the general classification. But his sixth place this Saturday, combined with the fourth place of Briton Alex Yee, offered the supreme title to Léo Bergère, winner of the day after a perfect race.
