Exploit of Bergerac which leaves Saint-Etienne, AS Monaco also qualified for the quarters

National 2 clubs will be well represented in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. After Versailles the day before, Bergerac indeed offered a historic qualification on Sunday by beating Saint-Etienne (1-0). On another ground, in the poster of the evening between two clubs which follow each other in the L1 classification, Monaco (7th) took over Lens (8th) by winning 4-2 at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium.

Bergerac and Monaco thus join in the next round Marseille, Nantes, Amiens (L2), Bastia (L2) and therefore Versailles (N2). The last round of 16 will oppose this Monday at 9:15 p.m., PSG, holder of the trophy and leader of Ligue 1, in Nice, his dolphin in the championship.

A very difficult season for the Greens

At the end of a disputed meeting in Périgueux, Bergerac extended its adventure in the Coupe de France and plunged the Greens, last in Ligue 1, back into their daily slump. Romain Escarpit, who had just come into play, sent the amateur club into the quarters by pushing with his foot a ball poorly cleared by the Saint-Etienne defense (76th).

Leader of his National group and now in the quarterfinals of the Coupe de France, everything smiles on the team coached by Erwan Lannuzel, 33 years old. Conversely, that of Pascal Dupraz, who had stopped his black series in Ligue 1 by winning at Angers (1-0) on Wednesday, could not continue in the Cup and will have to throw his last strength into the race for maintenance.

Monaco unfold in the first half

Sunday’s match is also to be forgotten for Lens. The 8th in the championship came out of the Coupe de France by Monaco. Perfectly served by a cross from Caio Henrique, Wissam Ben Yedder headed ahead of Facundo Medina to send the ball into the back of the net (18th). And Philippe Clement’s players worsened the score in the space of three minutes with two very fine collective goals, concluded by Jean Lucas (26th), then Sofiane Diop (29th).

Led 3-0, the Lensois however came back to score thanks to Wesley Saïd just before the break (45th). Launched after half-time by Franck Haise, Arnaud Kalimuendo revived his team a little more with a curled shot from 20 meters (53rd). The striker even came close to equalizing in the 84th minute, but his shot went just wide. Not realistic enough, Lens ended up being punished by a second goal from Ben Yedder (88th).
