Exhausted, an eight-year-old child evacuated during the ascent of Carlit

Neither the weather conditions nor the difficulty of the climb decided a father to postpone the ascent of Carlit with his eight-year-old son this weekend.

But this walk to the summit of the Pyrénées-Orientales (2,921 meters) proved far too complex for her child who, exhausted, had to be rescued. A Civil Security helicopter came to rescue this child, after a two-day journey, which began at Lake Bouillouses.

Due to strong winds and heavy clouds obscuring visibility, the helicopter was unable to reach the site immediately. The Bolquère CRS therefore took the hiking trails to help the victim, who was feeling unwell. Thanks to a lull, the helicopter was finally able to take off. The father and son were airlifted and returned to the family car.
