Exclusive: Santi Cazorla names his best teammates – and the toughest opponent
Santi Cazorla has played for Spain more than 80 times, and he also has many appearances in the Champions League. As a result, he was allowed to compete with the best.
Former Spanish international Santi Cazorla, currently under contract with Al-Sadd SC in Qatar, counts Rio World Champion Mesut Özil among the best players of his career.
“Andres Iniesta, Xavi, David Silva, Juan Roman Riquelme and Mesut Özil,” replied the 36-year-old Goal and SPOX when asked about his five best teammates.
Especially the interaction with Iniesta, Xavi and Silva in Spain was a pleasure for him. “I was very lucky to play with players like that,” continued Cazorla.
Cazorla played with Özil at Arsenal FC, at Villarreal he played 48 times alongside Riquelme between 2004 and 2006.

The 81-time national player was also asked about the toughest opponent of his career – in the end, the choice fell on FC Barcelona. “It’s really difficult, but I had to play against Barca with Xavi, Iniesta and [Lionel] Play messi. That’s my choice, “he explained.
Cazorla moved from Villarreal to the desert in 2020. There he is currently being trained by ex-colleague Xavi.
