New York prosecutors have accused former President Donald Trump of fraudulently overestimating the value of his property. She demands a subpoena from Trump.
Former US President Donald Trump’s corporate empire has repeatedly used fraudulent business practices, according to New York Attorney General Letitia James. She was referring to “significant” new evidence of the allegedly fraudulent and deceptive practices. Their aim was to obtain a “variety of economic advantages”.
James also asked the court to compel subpoenas from Trump and his children Ivanka and Donald Jr. Ivanka Trump and her brother are scheduled to testify under oath in the ongoing civil investigation into the Trump Organization.
Inaccurate property value information
The comprehensive investigation is about, among other things, the suspicion that Trump’s company has given false information about the value of its real estate. “To date, our investigation has uncovered significant evidence that suggests that Donald Trump and the Trump Organization misvalued and fraudulently valued multiple assets and misrepresented those values to financial institutions for economic gain,” James continued.
According to the report, Donald Trump and the Trump Organization misreported the value of six properties, including one on Wall Street and golf clubs in Scotland and Westchester County outside of New York City.
“Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump were all closely involved in the transactions in question, so we will not tolerate their attempts to evade testimony in this investigation,” the attorney general said. She also wrote on Twitter: “No one is above the law.”
Trump investigation delayed
In December, Trump took legal action against Attorney James. He repeatedly compared the investigation to a “witch hunt”. James criticized this behavior and said that the Trump Organization has been trying for two years to slow down the investigation with delaying tactics, among other things.
