The police are increasing their search pressure on the former RAF terrorists Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg who went into hiding. They could also still have heavy weapons.

The leading Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office is intensifying the search for the two ex-RAF members who went into hiding Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg. “In this context, public search measures in and around Berlin will also be intensified,” the investigators announced on Thursday afternoon.

They therefore suspect that the two men – as well as their accomplice Daniela Klette, who was arrested on Monday – are in the capital.

Police warn about ex-RAF members Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg

The 65-year-old came to the investigators after a tip from the public and after around three decades on the run. She, as well as Garweg and Staub, are accused of, among other things, several robberies and an explosive attack. In addition, their role in the left-wing extremist terrorist organization Red Army Faction (RAF, 1970 to 1998) and other serious crimes committed are the subject of the investigation.

The 69-year-old Staub and the 55-year-old Garweg have also been living underground for around decades. The police fear that, like Burdock, they have larger arsenals of weapons and therefore see a “potential danger to the population”. Officials are calling on the public to be vigilant and hoping for information on the whereabouts of dust and food. The police warn: “Do not approach the people! They are likely to be armed.”

Ernst-Volker Staub was born in 1954 and is around 1.83 meters tall. He has blue-gray eyes, presumably unkempt teeth and birthmarks on his back as well as burn marks on his left shoulder. Burkhard Garweg was born in 1968, is around 1.80 meters tall and has blue eyes. His nose is described as “large” and his face as “pointed”.

The police receive tips (including anonymous ones) nationwide at their offices or via the emergency number 110. The Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office can also be reached on (0511) 98737400. Is on the Internet an information portal switched. A total of at least 150,000 euros is being offered as a reward for the capture of those wanted.
