Ex-Barca scout on Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior: “He was ready to sign with Barcelona”
Vinicius Junior joined Real Madrid in 2018. According to an ex-scout, he should originally have signed with the rival from Barcelona.
Former FC Barcelona scout Andre Cury has revealed that Vinicius Junior (21) almost ended up at Barca before joining Real Madrid. “He was ready to sign for Barcelona,” said Cury on the Spanish radio station Cadena SER.
The attacker, who was trained by Flamengo, was a big supporter of the Catalans at the time. “Vinicius is a Cule (name of the Barca fans, editor’s note). He cried with joy when Barcelona made their 6-1 comeback against PSG,” said Cury.
Cury on failed Vinicius transfer to Barca: “They betrayed us”
Vinicius’ transfer to Barca failed, however, the Brazilian finally landed at Real Madrid in the summer of 2018. “His two agents were close friends of mine. But at the last minute they betrayed me and the club. We haven’t spoken since 2017,” said Cury of the broken deal.
Vinicius is now in his fourth season wearing the royal jersey and is currently in excellent shape for Carlo Ancelotti’s team: in twelve competitive games, he was directly involved in twelve goals (seven goals, five assists).
