Ex-Audi boss Stadler confesses to manipulated exhaust gas values
Former Audi boss Rupert Stadler makes a confession in the fraud process about manipulated exhaust gas values. It is the first confession by a VW Group board member in the criminal investigation of one of the biggest German industrial scandals.
Former Audi boss Rupert Stadler made a confession on Tuesday in the fraud process involving manipulated emissions from diesel cars. The Munich Regional Court had promised Stadler a suspended sentence if he made a comprehensive confession and paid 1.1 million euros.
The process has been running since September 2020. Stadler is accused of not having stopped the sale of diesel vehicles manipulated with a defeat device after learning about the manipulation. The former Audi boss is said not to have been responsible for the manipulations.
