The EVGA Precision X1 GPU tool, which is comparable to MSI Afterburner or Sapphire TriXX, now supports the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 (test), which is currently by far the fastest graphics card, but which the manufacturer itself will never offer as a custom design.
Apart from the enthusiasts and overclockers who use an EVGA graphics card because of a cooler change without loss of warranty or the special suitability for overclocking, the announcement about the release of EVGA Precision X1 v1.3.7.0 would interest only a few, but in the current constellation there is something unintentionally humorous about such a report.
On September 16, EVGA announced it would no longer produce graphics cards, confirming the break with Nvidia. The editors found out what the ComputerBase readers think of the separation with a Sunday question.
EVGA supports the GeForce RTX 4090 from other manufacturers
With EVGA Precision X1 – formerly X or XOC – not only graphics cards from the manufacturer can be overclocked up to the in-house GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. Like MSI Afterburner, Precision X1 supports graphics cards from other manufacturers, including the GeForce RTX 4090, which EVGA itself will not even offer.
In a random test with the Asus GeForce RTX 3090 TUF Gaming, all parameters were accurately recognized and output, and the settings made were also correctly adopted. However, graphics cards from other manufacturers usually do without some of the sensor data and fan control. Even with the RGB lighting, each of the manufacturers cooks their own soup.
