Everton receive 10 Premier League penalty points for financial offense

The Everton club has had 10 points deducted from the English league standings for breaching financial rules, the Premier League, organizer of the competition, announced on Friday. In March, the English league referred Everton to an independent commission for alleged violation of its profitability and viability rules.

Club blamed for losing £124.5m [142 millions d’euros]while the loss ceiling was set at 105 million pounds [120 millions d’euros].

Everton, 14th in the standings before this decision and which thus fell to 19th place, castigated this decision in a press release while saying it was “shocked” and “disappointed”: “The rigor and severity of the sanction imposed by the commission does not neither fairly nor reasonably reflects the evidence presented.” The club has announced its intention to appeal the sanction.
