Eve Blinds Collection: Roller blinds for HomeKit and Matter for free configuration

The smart home supplier Eve has been offering roller blinds that can be controlled via HomeKit for several years. There were also sets with which you could make “dumb” shading smart. Now the company, which now belongs to the Swedish-Swiss ABB Group, has greatly expanded its range of roller blinds: in the form of the Eve Blinds Collection.

This is a whole collection of different window shades that can be configured down to the last detail – the manufacturer calls them “smart, tailor-made blinds”. They are controlled using Matter or HomeKit, and the connection is made via the short-range radio thread. The basic models are available in three versions: a translucent version, a blackout version (both made from recycled yarn) and the so-called “Solar Collection” made of a silver-colored, darkening and heat-insulating material that is intended to help save energy.

Control via the Eve app for iOS allows adaptive shading, which automatically creates schedules based on the position of the sun. However, it is also possible to configure different settings for each day – for example for working days and weekends.

The extended Eve app functionalities are only available on iPhone and iPad, but thanks to Matter, most of the other functions are also available on Alexa, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings. However, it is important to remember that you have to have a hub, which act as a thread border router can.

Eve allows you to configure the blinds on its website. After selecting the fabric, different colors must be selected (fabric samples can be requested free of charge) and finally a decision is made as to whether the roller blind should be placed in the window opening or in front of the window. Finally, widths from 66 to 190 cm and heights from 30 to 299.8 cm can be configured. The type of mount, its color and the placement of the motor can also be adjusted. The price starts at just under 270 euros and shipping is free.
