The political concept of “freedom” has just undergone an amazing ideological migration. Compared to the dictatorial regimes of the 20th century, freedom was once a crystal clear (left) liberal, anti-autocratic demand. Freedom as the liberation of the oppressed from their violent oppressors. Very easy. However, political conflicts that have escalated sharply have the disadvantage of having to be conducted relentlessly. They leave no room for compromise. Any concession to the other side is not seen as a way to a necessary amicable agreement, but merely as a weakness and thus a threat to victory. Conversely, this creates deceptively clear alternatives that are obvious to everyone: freedom or coercion. “Freedom instead of Socialism”. Choose your fighter.
