The Lord Mayor of Hof, Eva Döhla (SPD), is the spokesperson for the Working Group of Franconian Lord Mayors. It was elected unanimously by the town hall chiefs. The OB advised in Nuremberg on problems of the municipalities, such as the lack of living space and commercial space. They also complained about difficulties in finding suitable staff for the administration. In some cases, positions would have to be advertised more than once and even then there would often be no suitable applicant. In addition, the OB demanded the electrification of the Nuremberg-Hof railway line. “A very clear message to the federal government: we don’t just need that for Francs, we need them for Europe,” said Döhla. There are still diesel locomotives on the route. Thomas Ebersberger (CSU), Bayreuth’s Lord Mayor, also appealed to focus more on the Franconia-Saxony Mainline. All municipalities up to Zwickau support the initiative, the only problem remains the railway. The working group Franconian OB was founded in 1988 with the aim of bundling Franconian interests. Döhla has been the town hall chief of Hof since 2020.
