Eurowings strike: almost every second flight is canceled (video)

Watch the video: almost half of the Eurowings flights are canceled due to the pilots’ strike.

Because of the pilots’ strike at the Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings, almost every second flight is canceled there from Monday to Wednesday. Tens of thousands of passengers are likely to be affected. Of the around 400 connections planned for Monday, more than 230 can take place, the Lufthansa low-cost subsidiary announced on Sunday. The second flight operation, Eurowings Europe, will not be on strike and will fly at full capacity. The airline Eurowings Discover, which operates from Frankfurt and Munich, is also not affected by the labor dispute by the Vereinigung Cockpit union (VC). For Tuesday and Wednesday, Eurowings assumes that almost half of the planned flight program will also be cancelled. On Friday, the union had called on the pilots to go on a three-day strike in the collective bargaining dispute over better working hours. The offer submitted by the employer was non-negotiable, VC had explained. The talks failed again. The Eurowings pilots had already stopped work for a day at the beginning of October. The airline had to cancel around 250 flights – around 30,000 passengers were affected.
