Many matches from the 2024 European Football Championship can be seen on free TV. These moderators and experts are part of the broadcaster’s teams.
The home European Championships will take place in June and July! The ARD and ZDF now have their teams for reporting on everything European Football Championship 2024 announced. Well-known experts and experienced moderators will be there. Meanwhile, RTL could particularly score points in the entertainment sector.
17 matches in the first
According to a statement from April 23rd, the first shows 17 matches, including two preliminary round games for the DFB team, a quarter-final with possible German participation and the final of the tournament on July 14th. The channel’s viewers are accompanied by presenter Esther Sedlaczek (38) and her colleague Alexander Bommes (48), who split the matches.
At their side, football greats Bastian Schweinsteiger (39), Almuth Schult (33), Thomas Hitzlsperger (42) and Thomas Broich (43) will use their expertise to classify what is happening. The experts will also comment together with Christina Graf (38), Tom Bartels (58) and Gerd Gottlob (59).
Presenter Lea Wagner (29) will also be responsible for interviewing players during broadcasts of matches with German participation. There will also be full audio reports of all matches on “sportschau.de”, in the ARD audio library or via the “Sportschau” app.
17 more games on ZDF
17 other European Championship matches can be seen on ZDF, including the opening game between Germany and Scotland on June 14th. If the German team progresses, the round of 16 and semi-finals of the DFB team will also be broadcast here.
Moderator Jochen Breyer (41) and his colleague Katrin Müller-Hohenstein (58) welcome the opening game with the experts Christoph Kramer (33) and Per Mertesacker (39). Commentator Oliver Schmidt joins in at the opening ceremony. In the following games, Müller-Hohenstein and Breyer alternate, while Kramer and Mertesacker are always present in the broadcaster’s EM studio. Moderator Sven Voss (47) and reporter Amelie Stiefvatter (33) report from the German quarters, Schmidt alternates with Martin Schneider and Claudia Neumann to comment.
RTL shows twelve matches
RTL is also getting involved and is showing a total of twelve European Championship games on free TV as part of a partnership with MagentaTV. This also includes a round of 16 and a quarter-final. In addition, the station will probably offer one of the most unusual approaches to the tournament on German television. The live football show “The RTL EM Studio – All Games, Goals, Emotions” (also via RTL+) runs daily during the European Championship at prime time at 8:15 p.m. The show is produced by Stefan Raab’s (57) company Raab Entertainment and moderated by his cult “show intern” Elton (53) and Jan Köppen (41). Mitja Lafere (33) will be there as an outside reporter, and various experts will also have their say. It wouldn’t be RTL “if, in addition to specialist knowledge and sporting expertise, the entertainment aspect and humor also had an important role,” Inga Leschek, program manager for RTL and RTL+, is quoted as saying in a statement.
