The German women’s track foursome continued their winning streak at the European Championships in Munich and successfully defended their title.

The German women’s track foursome continued their winning streak at the European Championships in Munich and successfully defended their title.

The favored Olympic champion quartet from Tokyo with Lisa Brennauer (Durach), Franziska Brauße (Öschelbronn), Lisa Klein (Erfurt) and Mieke Kröger (Bielefeld) won in a gripping final over 4000 meters against Italy in 4:10.872 minutes with a lead of 0.699 seconds. In the semifinals, the world champions and world record holders prevailed against Great Britain. The British lost the small final against France.

The German men’s quartet with Tobias Buck-Gramcko (Göttingen), Nicolas Heinrich (Chemnitz), Theo Reinhardt (Berlin) and Leon Rohde (Lübbenau) then missed bronze. The quartet lost the 4000m race for third place by 1.467 seconds to Great Britain in 3:55.841 minutes. France won the final against Denmark.
