The sprinters Lea Sophie Friedrich, Pauline Grabosch and Emma Hinze won the second gold medal for Germany at the European Track Cycling Championships in Munich.

The Olympic bronze medalists in Tokyo defeated the trio from the Netherlands in 38.061 seconds. The women’s foursome had previously won the European title. The Poles secured third place by beating France in the small final.

Qualifying for the finals was overshadowed by a spectacular fall by fellow favorite Great Britain. A technical error caused Sophie Capewell and Emma Finucane to fall at the end of the first of three laps and required medical treatment on the track for several minutes. However, both riders are doing well and will come back stronger, the British Cycling Federation said.
