It was a solemn ceremony – which was then unceremoniously disrupted. During the European Championship group launch, sex noises suddenly rang through the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie. Now a YouTuber has confessed to this.

Manchester star David Silva is briefly irritated and can’t help but smile. As he was drawing the European Championship Group A for Switzerland, thereby completing the German host group for the 2024 European Championship, an unexpected noise suddenly sounded through the people of Hamburg Elbphilharmonie. The same, very clearly sexual-sounding moan can be heard again and again – even in the live broadcasts of the TV stations. Now it comes out: There is a British YouTuber behind the groaning prank – who is not doing it for the first time.

Daniel Jarvis, who works under the name “Jarvo69,” broadcast the prank live. “Can you hear that? That’s us!” he cheered live on YouTube. The German broadcast of the undress can be heard in the background; Jarvis said he was in a hotel in Hamburg. “We are the biggest pranksters in the world,” he says happily, as he repeatedly uses his smartphone to cause new groans in the room. But you can’t hear them at all in his clip: the television is simply set way too quiet.

From amused to annoyed

In fact, the noise repeatedly disrupted the transmission for minutes. “We have a few noises in the hall,” noted the draw manager Giorgi Marchetti at the beginning. Then all participants try to ignore the disturbances. With varying degrees of success. The Danish international Brian Laudrup visibly has to pull himself together several times as he draws Serbia for Group 3.

The numerous football celebrities in the stands are always seen having fun. After a few minutes, however, the reaction changes. When the groaning noise, which lasted just under two seconds, sounds for the dozenth time, everyone slowly but surely seems annoyed.

Repetition disruptors

The constant repetition gave an indication of how the moans came into the hall. Jarvis’ transmission then confirmed it: He had set the moan as a cell phone ringtone and had placed it in the hall beforehand. And it just kept calling in its transmission.

This scam has been successful before. During a BBC broadcast of a game between Wolverhampton and Liverpool also disturbed Jarvis in January with well-rehearsed groans. A cell phone was later discovered taped to a seat. Jarvis himself has been a distraction at sporting events for years, repeatedly running onto the field at football and rugby games. After disrupting two cricket matches and even running over a player, he even ended up in prison for eight weeks.
