In the border area between Switzerland, France and Germany, the earth shook on Thursday. We are talking about a strength of 3.5 and 3.6.

A noticeable earthquake shook the border area between Switzerland, France and Germany on Thursday. The Swiss Seismological Service of ETH Zurich (SED) initially gave the strength as 3.5, then 3.6. According to this information, the epicenter was about 13 kilometers south of Mulhouse/France, not far from the German border. The tremor happened at 2:48 p.m.

“This earthquake should have been clearly felt near the epicenter,” said the earthquake service. However, damage is not to be expected with such a strength. The Swiss Seismological Service registers around 1,000 to 1,500 earthquakes a year. Up to 20 of them reach a strength of more than 2.5.

For comparison: The devastating earthquake on February 6 in Turkey had a magnitude of 7.8, according to the US Geological Survey. More than 50,000 people died in Turkey and Syria.
