“I firmly assume that we will see a football game and that there will be no riots at all,” said the coach of the Baden Bundesliga club when he commented on the riots in the past European Cup games between OGC Nice and 1. FC Köln and between Olympique Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt. Many Olympiakos supporters are considered particularly frenetic. The SC is accompanied by around 750 away fans.

“Our fans are known for being very peaceful,” Streich emphasized. “I fully expect that the Olympiacos fans are passionate about their team, but not in any way against other people – just as I don’t assume that our fans are in any way bad behavior as a guest here. That’s why I not afraid at all.” There is a Greek-German friendship, according to Freiburg’s coach. He is “one hundred percent assuming that it will be a friendly encounter in which we will fight hard and fairly for victory”.
