After the end in Europe, the final spurt of the league is upon us. Jürgen Klopp sees the reaction his team was hoping for, and that should be motivation for the Reds’ last chance for the title.

After the exit from the Europa League, it switched off Jürgen Klopp returned to attack mode relatively quickly.

“Now we can concentrate on the league and that’s what we will do. That was, if we like, the start of the rest of the season with a good result and a good performance. And that’s how we see it,” said the coach of the English first division soccer team FC Liverpool. His Reds won the quarter-final second leg at Atalanta Bergamo 1-0 (1-0), but that wasn’t enough after the surprising 0-3 (0-1) defeat in the first leg at their home stadium at Anfield Road.

“We tried, we wanted to go further. But whoever beats us 3-0 at home deserves to go through,” said Klopp. Mohamed Salah quickly gave Liverpool the lead with a hand penalty (7th minute) and fueled hopes of a comeback. “We played a really great first half,” said Klopp on RTL.

“A few kilometers on the clock”

Liverpool had the advantage in terms of play in the period that followed, but were unable to take advantage of their opportunities. “And we didn’t create enough chances either. And then we ran out of gas a little bit. We’re in the middle of April and the boys have a few kilometers on the clock,” said Klopp, who is now fully concentrating on the championship fight with his team before leaving the club after nine years after the season.

In the exciting title race, Liverpool are third, two points behind league leaders Manchester City. “Now the Premier League is coming, we’re going to sink our teeth into this story. That’s the plan now. Back to winning ways,” Klopp announced. There are two away games against Fulham and Everton on Sunday and Wednesday before another away game against West Ham United on April 27th. “It’s now time to close our eyes and see what we can get out of it for another week,” said Klopp.
