After the lucky quarter-finals, Bayer Leverkusen continues in the Europa League against West Ham. The Premier League club had eliminated Freiburg.

Bayer Leverkusen meets in the quarterfinals Europa League on Freiburg conquerors West Ham United. Should the winner of the Europa League’s predecessor competition, the UEFA Cup, from 1988 make it to the semi-finals, the winner of the Italian duel AC Milan and AS Roma would be the opponent. This was the result of the draw on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland. The quarterfinals will be played on April 11th and 18th.

“It will be a difficult task,” said Bayer sports director Simon Rolfes. “West Ham has an atmospheric stadium, and after Baku we now have a short journey to London – that’s also nice for our fans.”

The league leaders in the Bundesliga made it into the round of the last eight with a lot of effort on Thursday. Against Karabakh Agdam from Azerbaijan, Bayer only secured a 3-2 victory in the second leg of the round of 16 with two goals in stoppage time. Leverkusen also overcame a 2-0 deficit in both games. West Ham eliminated SC Freiburg in the round of 16.
