After a clear increase in performance, FC Bayern Munich defeated their German rivals Alba Berlin in the Basketball Euroleague. The world champions can convince.

The FC Bayern Munich has won the German duel at the start of the Basketball Euroleague with Alba Berlin.

The team of new coach Pablo Laso defeated the capital club after a significant increase in performance after the break with 80:68 (36:44). The best shooter for Munich was the Frenchman Sylvain Francisco with 17 points and Isaac Bonga with eleven points and ten rebounds. At Alba, Louis Olinde and Johannes Thiemann each had twelve points.

Honor for the world champions

After honoring the German world champions Bonga, Niels Giffey, Andreas Obst (all FC Bayern) and Alba captain Thiemann, Bonga in particular confirmed his World Cup form. The 23-year-old was once again an unpleasant opponent on defense and also made a difference with his long-range throw. The first round went to Munich with a score of 19:17. Thanks to ten points each from a strong Thiemann and Olinde in the second quarter, the Berliners were clearly the better team and went into halftime with an eight-point lead.

Bayern, who were now playing furiously, were able to compensate for the deficit with a quick 8-0 run and finally turned the game around after 25 minutes (50:46). The newly formed Berliners seemed overwhelmed against the also renewed Munich team. The Frenchman Francisco led the Laso team to a clear 80:68 victory.
