Tickets and dates: This is what EM fans should know now

The group opponents have been determined, the European Championship countdown is running. If you want to be at the games – especially those of the DFB team – you need luck. Meanwhile, national coach Nagelsmann is working on his master plan.
The lots have been drawn, the European Football Championship takes place Julian Nagelsmann took concrete forms after the show in Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie. With DFB sports director Rudi Völler, the national coach starts planning the run-up to the tournament. The fans also have to take action quickly if they want to be at the games live in the stadium in summer 2024.
How do I get tickets for the German European Championship games?
10,000 tickets per game are reserved for German fans. The same contingent also goes to the fans of the teams from Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland. The DFB will be distributing German fans’ tickets in three ways from Monday. The largest share goes to the members of the “National Team Fan Club”. For the first time, other fan clubs could also be founded and applied to the DFB using these cards. Anyone who applied for a tournament registration with the DFB by last Thursday can also use this to apply for tickets. It also depends on the pace. The principle “first come, first serve” applies. Are there other ways to get EM tickets?
UEFA is also opening its ticket portal again. You can even apply for tickets for all 51 games with an online application until December 12th (2 p.m.) – including for the final on July 14th in Berlin. However, UEFA does not provide any information on its portal as to how many tickets are still available per game. The tickets will be raffled off in January. If you weren’t lucky, you can still hope for a return exchange where unpaid or unneeded tickets are offered. Last-minute bargains are still possible there until the start of the tournament.
What is Julian Nagelsmann doing until the European Championships?
Now the hot planning begins for Nagelsmann, Völler and the entire DFB staff. The national coach has already announced drastic measures for his players after the disappointing tests against Turkey (2:3) and Austria (0:2), without going into detail.
Organizationally, it looks like this: In March, the test matches in Lyon against France and against the Netherlands, probably in Frankfurt, are practically fixed. Nagelsmann will name his tournament squad in mid-May, probably shortly before the Bundesliga final on May 18th. The national coach must finally report his 23 European Championship players to UEFA by midnight on June 7th.
The search for a location for the training camp, which will probably begin in the week after the DFB Cup final (May 25th), is in the final planning phase. Donaueschingen and a hotel near Weimar are considered options. Preparing for the European Championships in Herzogenaurach was probably just a quick mental game. During the preparation there are still two test games for which opponents are now being sought. If possible, they should provide blueprints of the football culture of the first three European Championship opponents. The DFB is expected to announce these key points of the European Championship planning this year.
How is the tournament going for the DFB team?
Nagelsmann and his players have to move into the European Championship quarters no later than five days before the first tournament game, i.e. on June 9th. This is what the UEFA regulations dictate. As in 2021 and 2022, the DFB stars will spend the summer in the so-called home ground of supplier Adidas in Herzogenaurach. The infrastructure is tried and tested and the national coach also likes the location. From there the routes to the three group games in Munich (June 14th/Scotland), Stuttgart (June 19th/Hungary) and Frankfurt (June 23rd/Switzerland) are short. The trip to the venues takes place the day before the game.
What would happen next for Germany in the knockout round?
If Germany wins the group, they will face the second team in Group C in the round of 16 in Dortmund on June 29th. That could be England, Denmark, Slovenia or Serbia. The tournament route would then lead via Stuttgart (July 5th/possibly against Spain) and Munich (July 9th) to the final on July 14th in Berlin. As group runners-up, the first knockout game would be in Berlin (June 29th) against the runners-up in Group B, i.e. Spain, Croatia, Italy or Albania. In the best case scenario, we would then go to Berlin via Düsseldorf (July 6th) and Dortmund (July 10th). If Germany progresses as one of the four best third-placed teams in the group, three different knockout routes are possible.
