Eurasburg: Police remove “Z” on vehicle – Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

On Friday afternoon, a Ukrainian was deeply affected when she noticed a “Z” stuck to the tailgate of a Eurasburger’s car. The 33-year-old, who according to the police and her family is suffering severely from the war in Ukraine, reported her observation to the officials at the Wolfratshausen inspection.

The “Z” symbol is used by Russian invading forces in the course of the Russian attack on Ukraine and is painted on many military vehicles, among other things. According to information from the Russian Defense Ministry, the “Z” stands for “Za Pobedu”, which translates as “For Victory”. “The word ‘victory’ undoubtedly means the success of the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” explains the Wolfratshausen police.

From the point of view of the officials, the public use of the symbol “Z” is the initial suspicion of criminal liability because of the approval of a war of aggression that violates international law. A complaint was therefore filed against the driver of the car, a 44-year-old Eurasian. The “Z” has been removed. The police did not provide any information as to whether the officers removed the roughly hand-sized letter stuck on with white tape or whether the Eurasburger did it himself. Also not whether the 44-year-old commented on the symbol on his vehicle.
