EU election: Europe’s rights sort themselves out – politics

The new European Parliament will not be elected until the beginning of June, but the wrangling over what the future political groups will look like has already begun. Now a man has made his decision whose respect for Parliament – and the entire EU – is normally limited: Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. As he said in an interview with Italian newspapers at the end of last week, he wanted MEPs from his Fidesz party to join the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group after the election. “The idea was to enter before the elections, but now we will do it after the vote,” the newspaper quotes La Stampa Orbán. “We are ready and will join the Conservatives.”
