The Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen – Helaba for short – is considered an almost scandal-free zone. While the former HSH Nordbank or Bayern LB and West LB repeatedly made the headlines with transactions at the expense of taxpayers or other escapades and some Landesbanks have now disappeared from the market completely, things were always rather quiet in Frankfurt. The Helaba? Is considered a little sleepy, but also reliable and well-behaved.
