ETIHAD MAY CANCEL ORDERS WITH AIRBUS AND BOEING

DUBAI (Reuters) – Airline Etihad Airways could cancel multi-billion dollar orders with Airbus and Boeing, chief executive Tony Douglas said on Wednesday, citing uncertainties over delivery dates and industry recovery air.

“Manufacturers are unable to confirm when [les appareils] will be delivered and it is not known when the market will recover, “said Tony Douglas, referring to the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 777X ordered almost ten years ago.

Etihad will however receive the Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner which, according to Tony Douglas, will form the backbone of its fleet, which will be reduced to 65 aircraft, compared to 93 currently.

Airbus declined to comment and Boeing was not immediately reachable.
