One can only hope that legislators and government Statement on the challenges of artificial intelligence (AI) read with the utmost attention, which the German Ethics Council presented on Monday. What the committee delivered on 287 pages can be summarized as follows: artificial intelligence must remain a tool over which humans retain absolute control. The seizure of power by machines is therefore canceled if politicians follow the recommendations of the Ethics Council. “AI must not replace people,” said its chairwoman Alexna Buyx in Berlin.
