Ersan Mondtag stages “Woyzeck” at the Berliner Ensemble: a slur – culture

Ersan Mondtag got lost in the forest. On the one hand, this of course fits perfectly with the old horror aesthetic and horror romantic: In the forest, that’s where the horrors are. On the other hand, the stage of director Mondtag’s “Woyzeck” production at the Berliner Ensemble with its tall spruce trees, the reeds of the small pond, the massive shooting range at the stage portal, the white and gold illuminated wafts of fog and the full moon spotlight on the stage horizon looks like a parody romantic art of the late nineteenth century, i.e. unintentionally funny (stage: the director).
