The US electric car manufacturer Tesla is recalling more than 80,000 cars in China. Both cars manufactured there and imported cars are affected. The reason is problems with the software and the seat belts.
The US electric car manufacturer Tesla is recalling around 80,000 vehicles in China. There are problems with the software and the seat belts, as the company announced. According to this, these are cars that were imported to China between 2013 and 2022 or manufactured there from 2019 onwards.
Longer list of problems
Due to software problems, the display in some introduced “Model S” and “Model X” vehicles gives incorrect messages and gradually stops the power supply, Tesla said. In extreme cases, this could increase the risk of an accident.
There are also problems with the fastening of the seat belts in around 10,000 “Model 3” cars produced in China, so that the occupant could not be held and thus injured in the event of an accident. As the electric car manufacturer further announced, the software of the recalled vehicles should now be updated and the possibly incorrect installation of the seat belts should be checked.
Several reviews this year
Tesla had already recalled more than 127,000 Model 3 vehicles in China last April, citing possible defects in semiconductor components that could lead to collisions. In June, Tesla also had to supply 285,000 cars in China with revised software for safety reasons.
For several years, the company has had a factory in the southern Chinese metropolis of Shanghai, which accounts for around 40 percent of the total production capacity worldwide, which is now around two million vehicles. Many regions of the world are supplied from the plant – including the European market.
