After a brutal attack on two 17-year-old girls, the Düsseldorf police are looking for the perpetrator using a phantom image. The man is said to have seriously injured the young people with several knife stabs around a month ago in Erkrath (Mettmann district).

The attacker is said to have tried to steal the two girls’ handbags on a dirt road on the night of February 25th and threatened them with a knife. “The 17-year-olds refused,” the police said after the crime. “The perpetrator then stabbed the young people with the knife and seriously injured them.”

Clues sought after attempted murder in Erkrath

Both young people were taken to hospital with serious injuries, one of whom was briefly in mortal danger. The perpetrator and an unknown companion fled the scene in a silver-gray Mercedes.

In the search for the two men, the police used a helicopter and distributed several hundred wanted posters in the Erkrath area – so far without success.

The phantom image should now bring the breakthrough. The man being sought is between 15 and 22 years old, around 1.75 meters tall and, according to the police, has a “North African appearance”. He was dressed in black, has dark brown-black curls, a “pot cut” and spoke German.

The Düsseldorf Criminal Investigation Department will receive information about the perpetrator on the telephone number (0211) 8700 or any other police station. The Wuppertal public prosecutor’s office promised a reward of up to 5,000 euros for helpful information. It was provided by a private person.
