Doctoral student Marie Coquille Chambel recalls that “the effectiveness of recourse to abortion is not guaranteed”

Although the inclusion of abortion in the French Constitution will consolidate this right, the possibility of terminating an unwanted pregnancy remains unequal in France.

“What worries me is the lack of effectiveness of abortion in France”, explains Marie Coquille Chambel, co-founder of the Relève feminist collective on our channel which recalls the shortages of abortion pills, the lack of resources of Family Planning as well as territorial inequalities.

The latest figures from the Department of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (Drees) show a recourse rate which can range from 11.6 per 1,000 women aged 15 to 49 in the Pays de la Loire to 22.6 in Provence-Alpes-Côtes d’Azur.
