Eric Ciotti candidate for the primary of the right

It’s the surprise of the day among Republicans. The deputy of the Maritime Alps Eric Ciotti announced this morning that he would be a candidate for the primary of the right. Its objective is to “bring right-wing ideas” in the presidential race of 2022.

“My course is to the right and my goal is simple, that France remains France,” said Eric Ciotti on BFMTV / RMC. He thus wants to “carry a project for more authority, more freedom, more identity” in this primary for which Valérie Pécresse and Philippe Juvin are already declared candidates. Xavier Bertrand for his part still refuses to submit to any tie-breaking process.

“At the end there will be only one candidate”

“I am from the right, I do not apologize for being so and I believe that we must have this message in the primary” of the right and the center that LR will resolve to organize at the end of November if the various potential candidates do not succeed not to agree between them.

Explaining having made his decision because “there is not a candidate who brings together all the qualities of a leader towards whom everyone converges”, he was worried to see “France decline industrially”, “violence to gain our neighborhoods” and “Islamist communitarianism continue to gain territory”, while the French are “poisoned by a paralyzing bureaucracy”. While Laurent Wauquiez, Bruno Retailleau and Michel Barnier could also embark on the primary, Eric Ciotti said he was confident that “in the end there will be only one candidate”.

“Great replacement”

As for Xavier Bertrand, who refuses any primary, the chairman of the LR investiture commission warned: “If there are two candidates on the right, it is not even worth going there, he ‘will have no chance’. Eric Ciotti has put forward some proposals, in particular on immigration which is one of his favorite subjects, pleading for “that we return to the right of the soil in favor of the right of blood, because the French soul is disintegrating” in the face of “Migratory submersion”.

“I will propose the inscription in the Constitution of our Christian origins”, he added, answering a question that “yes, we are living a form” of great replacement. He also pleaded for a change in the method of government in order to “rehabilitate the referendum”.
