Police operation in Erfurt: The town hall there was closed due to a bomb threat. The threat was received via email. In the past few days there have been repeated bomb threats against schools, television and radio stations.

The Erfurt town hall is because of one Bomb threat has been cordoned off. A sniffer dog was on duty to search the building on Friday morning, a spokeswoman for the Erfurt police said. The threat was received by email, but the spokeswoman initially declined to say whether there was a political motive. Employees were asked to leave the building or stay at home. According to the information, areas around the town hall were also partially affected by the closure – such as a bank branch.

Again MDR reported that a bomb threat was also received at a high school in Erfurt. The school was evacuated and students were asked to stay at home.

Bomb threats have been reported throughout Germany since Friday, with particular focus on schools. The authors are unknown and the background is unclear. In some cases, the letters made references to the Islamist Hamas and the Gaza war, but the Ukraine conflict was also a topic.
