The construction work for the new cell phone site in Erdweg has started. An approximately 30 meter high spun concrete mast will supplement Telekom’s mobile network there in the future. The aim is to improve the supply in Erdweg and the surrounding area, according to Telekom. “More and more people are online at the same time. They exchange photos and videos or work on the go. That’s why we’re constantly increasing the speed and capacity of our network,” Walter Goldenits, Managing Director of Technology at Telekom Germany, is quoted as saying in a press release. “Our mobile network expansion in Germany creates the technological basis for a modern, digital society. Erdweg also benefits from this today.”
Deutsche Funkturm is building the mobile phone mast in Erdweg on behalf of Telekom. “Erdweg is getting a modern and future-proof mobile communications site. First and foremost, Telekom customers will benefit from our mast, but we also offer our location to all other mobile communications providers, so that no additional masts have to be erected,” says Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, Managing Director Deutsche radio tower. As a rule, a location goes into operation six to twelve months after construction and can then be used. According to Telekom, the mobile phone mast in Erdweg is also suitable for sending 5G services in the future.
