Earthquake in Lower Saxony causes minor damage
Minor earthquakes occur again and again in the region. Now there was one of the strongest earthquakes in ten years. This could also be related to local natural gas production.
With one of the strongest Earthquakes in the last ten years in Lower Saxony caused minor damage to buildings. The Lower Saxony State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology (LBEG) said no one was injured.
The epicenter was therefore near Syke. The city is about 25 kilometers south of Bremen. The earthquake at 12:07 p.m. reached a magnitude of 3.6. Magnitude refers to the strength of an earthquake. A connection with local natural gas production is “probable,” said an LBEG spokesman. Minor earthquakes occur again and again in the region.
