Ephemeral swimming pools, it’s over

Those who had tasted the tranquility of the ephemeral swimming pools, erected in the settings of the Tête d’Or and Gerland parks in Lyon, will no longer have the joy of finding their favorite deckchairs next summer. The city announced at Thursday’s city council that the operation was complete.

For the past three years, the Tête d’Or velodrome has had two above-ground pools and numerous parasols, particularly popular with families. The concept had also been declined for the first time last summer on the side of Gerland.

Instead, the municipality plans to open “winter swimming pools”, traditionally closed in the summer, in particular that of Saint-Exupéry in Croix-Rousse and Tronchet in the 6th arrondissement. For the rest, swimmers can also cool off at the Tony Garnier nautical center, in Vaise or in the swimming pools of Mermoz and La Duchère.
