It falls from the sky. It’s coming from the line. It covers more than two thirds of the earth’s surface. It’s just there. But water, without which life on earth would be unthinkable, should actually not exist here. All of the water should have evaporated right away when the earth shed from the cloud of dust and gas that formed the solar system around 4.6 billion years ago. The common opinion was that it was too hot close to the sun back then.
