Environment and nature: A future for forest and deer – Bavaria

The forests in Bavaria are suffering severely from climate change and the many game that bite young fir and beech trees. On the Fentberg, forest owners and hunters show how trees and animals alike come into their own.

At 896 meters high, the Taubenberg is a rather inconspicuous, elongated hump. Of course, from above – for example from its north-eastern foothills, the Fentberg, which is close to the Salzburg motorway and the village of Mitterdarching – you have wonderful views of the district of Miesbach with its Hag landscape and the old farms. Munich’s local mountains extend behind it, and the Wendelstein limits the chain of peaks to the east. In other places you can see far north towards Munich. The state capital is less than 40 kilometers away as the crow flies.
