Nobody wants to be absent from green growth. CSU boss Markus Söder wants to make the Union the “market leader” when it comes to combining economy and ecology. Armin Laschet, the CDU’s candidate for chancellor, wants to “show the world that economy and ecology are not mutually exclusive”. That goes “not with prohibitions, renunciation and loss – but with impulses, innovations and ideas”. The SPD is also counting on a “decade of innovations” and sees its “future mission for climate-neutral Germany” as the next big job engine. The FDP demands an “intelligent interlocking” of environmental protection and economy, the Greens strive for “climate-friendly prosperity”. It suddenly seems so easy to save the environment and at the same time economic growth.
