Some people rave about homemade brownies: chocolatey, juicy – and they have to be really fudgy. This delicious variant with avocado does not require butter or flour. Here is the recipe.

At first glance, brownies may look inconspicuous. Dark, square and without much fanfare. But as in other parts of life, what counts in American delicacies is the inner values - in other words, the taste – and it is unbeatable. Good brownies are juicy, soft and fudgy, and of course irresistibly chocolaty. Simple to prepare, the pastry is perfect for changing.

A classic

The classic recipe is very easy and only requires a handful of ingredients: butter, flour, sugar, eggs and of course dark chocolate – at least 75 percent cocoa content is mandatory here, otherwise the brownies taste too sweet quickly. But what is the difference to conventional chocolate cake? This can not only be seen in the shape of the brownies – so that they stay juicy and have the typical moist consistency, brownies are usually not completely baked, but are still a bit moist in the middle. So they taste airy, juicy and just insanely chocolaty.

The story of the brownie

There are many myths about the origins of the classic brownie: there would be the chef who accidentally poured melted chocolate into the sponge batter, the cook who forgot the flour for the batter, or the housewife who improvised a brownie recipe due to a lack of baking powder. However, there is evidence that the recipe was first mentioned in writing around 1900.

Avocado in a brownie? Enjoyment with extras

The avocado brownies not only taste heavenly, they also have some health benefits. Unlike butter, the avocado is rich in unsaturated fatty acids. A balanced diet based on a high percentage of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids together with a low percentage of saturated fatty acids can minimize the risk of numerous heart diseases. In addition, the green fruits contain almost 20 different types of vitamins, minerals and secondary plant substances as well as fiber.

In addition, the brownies are gluten-free and therefore also suitable for people with gluten intolerance. Ground almonds are not only rich in protein and fiber, but are also rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids as well as calcium, potassium, magnesium, vitamin B and vitamin E.

Coconut blossom sugar has a slightly malty, caramel-like taste, which unfolds excellently in the brownies. In addition, it has a very low glycemic index of 35 and therefore hardly causes the blood sugar level to rise. It also contains numerous vitamins and minerals such as iron, magnesium, zinc and potassium as well as the fiber inulin. If you don’t have coconut blossom sugar at home, you can of course use any other sugar.
