The UK government has eased quarantine requirements for grocery retailers. In order to prevent delivery bottlenecks, employees no longer have to self-isolate after contact with corona.
In view of the threat of food shortages, the British government has relaxed its corona quarantine rules for workers in the sector. The government announced that employees in supermarkets or food distribution centers who had contact with corona infected people are now exempt from the obligation to self-isolate. Instead, they should have regular corona tests.
Health Minister Sajid Javid said everything was being done to break the chains of contagion. Daily testing “in this important sector” would minimize disruptions and interruptions in supply. In the first locations classified as particularly important by the government, including the largest distribution centers for the supply of supermarkets, the tests are to begin this week. 500 locations are to be added next week.
