What is a 12-foot constrictor doing on the street at night? And who catches the animal again when animal rights activists are not available at the moment?

Unusual use for the Police in the English city of West Bromwich: Because of a 3.6 meter long constrictor, the officers had to move out on Tuesday night, as the West Midlands Police (WMP) announced.

A call was received shortly after 1:30 a.m. that a yellow python was snaking along a road. In such cases, the police would normally call in the specialists of the animal protection organization RSPCA. But because they couldn’t come, their own “courageous” officials stepped in, the statement said.

They managed to safely load the snake into the police vehicle. The animal then spent the night with a veterinarian. One photo showed three officers holding the animal under a flashlight. There was initially no information on where the snake came from and how it got lost on the street.

The West Midlands Police combined the message with a call for applications: “Can you imagine working in a varied job with new challenges every day? Take a look at our WMP careers page today.”
